GERMANY. Eichstatt. Taler, 1781-KR. Nurnberg Mint. Sede Vacante. NGC

GERMANY. Eichstatt. Taler, 1781-KR. Nurnberg Mint. Sede Vacante. NGC MS-65 Prooflike.
Dav-2210; KM-90. An enticing and ever-popular one-year issue emanating from the Bishopric's sede vacante (empty seat) period in which there was no ecclesiastic head (following the death of Raimund Anton von Strasoldo and the installation of Johann Anton III von Zehmen). Already a RARE type, this specimen is made that much more desirable on account of its intense frosting to the rather expansive devices. The fields are aglow in lustrous brilliance, creating an alluring cameo nature and making the coveted prooflike designation most appropriate. The obverse, in addition to a detailed bird's eye city view, features Sts. Willibald and Walburga along with a radiant Eye of Providence.

Estimate: $5000 - $10000
