A Victorian silver Hunt & Roskell (Late Storr, Mortimer & Hunt) sauce tureen and liner by John Samuel Hunt, of lobed oval form with a pair of upturned loop handles with lion masks, the detachable cover with a bold heraldic finial depicting a goat's head emerging above a coronet, the sides repousse decorated in Classical taste, showing strapwork, bellflowers and arabesque leaf scroll, a small oval cartouche to each side, resting on four bold acanthus cast volute feet, the plain internal liner with a pair of upturned handles, 'No.3 , 36.10, 1844', London marks for 1844, 8.2" across.
