This is the lowest denomination for the 1938 provisional overprint series, which features the overprinted signature title at left of Vice-Presidente. This note was overprinted on P-189A. This note is a miracle of survival in this state of preservation. Just five notes have been encapsulated by PMG for this variety, with this note sitting proudly atop the population report. The design at center is of workers loading a train with a shipment of bananas. The primary design is in a dark purple color, with light yellow/green comprising the undertint at center. The back design is found in the same purple color as the front. Rarely encountered even close to this state of preservation, with only grades of XF or worse appearing for the 198b on PMG's census. Any collector of Costa Rican currency seeking the best-of-the-best should jump at the opportunity to acquire this piece. PMG Pop 1/None Finer.
